The Practice History

The Opening of the Hartmann International Sports Injury Clinic at the
University Arena, University of Limerick.

In 1997 Gerard moved home from Gainesville Florida to his native city, Limerick and opened a new clinic, Hartmann International Sports Injury Clinic at 2 Patrick Street, Limerick City.

The clinic was unique in that it was an all in one stop. Housed in a five-story building, the bottom floor was an injury rehabilitation setting, the ground floor contained the physical therapy treatment rooms and there were three apartments above where athletes were accommodated during their stay.

Visiting athletes normally stay seven to twenty-one days and avail of intensive treatment, which incorporates injury treatment, rehabilitation and prehabilitation.

On the 15th May 2007 the official opening ceremony took place of Hartmann International Sports Injury Clinic in its new location at The University Arena, University of Limerick, Ireland.

Also located within the building are a suspended 210-meter mondo running track, a six-lane 100-meter indoor mondo sprint track and a fully sprung maple floor court area, which accommodates three full size basketball courts/multi-function games area.

Adjacent to the building is an outdoor 400meter, eight lane, mondo running track with fully maintained infield area and six full size outdoor football pitches.

The University is currently in the process of building a dedicated pitch complex to house indoor and outdoor pitches with restraunt, car parking and changing facilities.
